General DescriptionThe purpose of this position is to drive sustainability across Samsung North America and influence headquarters to apply corporate initiatives that appeal to the North American market and are aligned with the vision of the group and company.Sustainability initiatives should balance corporate financial performance with positive returns and positive messaging in the environmental space.The Sustainability Manager must have a clear understanding of all issues related to product lifecycle, corporate sustainability practices, and sustainability trends. The Manager will establish sustainability strategies for North America and coordinate across functions to drive improvement in corporate performance and communicate to external and internal stakeholders.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Awards and Recognition• Enhance green reputation through PR, environmental campaigns, etc. Lead and implement sustainability strategy initiatives by scoping, planning, initiating, and executing projects.• Coordinate sustainability award strategy. Analyze and report on sustainability trends, benchmark competitors, identify risks & opportunities, and determine actions to enhance Samsung brand.• Manage and develop Samsung.com/us sustainability content and flow. Support development of Corporate reporting.• Work with PR team to publish content for environmental blogs, press releases, media inquiries, etc.Sustainable Business Support• Coordinate team efforts to respond to business RFPs and customer inquiries.• Develop sustainability collateral for SEA Sales and marketing teams. Coordinate sustainability support for customer interactions.• Partner with Operations and HR teams to reduce energy, waste, and water in SEA facilities.• Organize and coordinate employee engagement events that support sustainability initiatives.Recycling Strategy• Map all asset recovery channels across SEA. Drive consistency in e-waste compliance management, identify synergies for cost efficiencies.• Negotiate annual e-waste recycling contracts with partners. Work with legal team to ensure alignment.• Manage e-waste recycling audits of recycling partners. Assure conformance.• Support CSD to develop asset recovery and repair/refurbish business opportunitiesPerformance Standards (How will duties be measured)• Duties will be measured based upon quantitative assignment of goals and the value associated with each goal. Success will be measured based on increased sustainability performance within Samsung.• Increased awareness and participation in sustainability initiatives for buildings in N. America.• Create and Manage impactful communications and recognition opportunities.• Improve sustainability rankings and ratings.• Positive relationships with external stakeholders.• Examine other industries for leadership trends and creative solutions.• Communicate & report developments to HQ and other key business units.• Establish positive relationships and collaboration with stakeholders.• Create and develop marketing and business development opportunities.• Establish leadership in e-waste management.• Identify e-waste cost reduction and process efficiency synergies.• Ensure all recycling partners across SEA asset recovery channels conform to Samsung policy and compliance assurance processesNecessary Skills / Attributes• Bachelor’s degree required.
