Residential Specialist/Direct Care - Northern New Jersey

Everas Community Services, Inc. is looking for professional, compassionate people who are enthusiastic about making a positive difference in the lives of the people we support and throughout our organization.

This position covers the Northern New Jersey region where our programs are located in Emerson, Garfield, Livingston, Nutley, Park Ridge, Paterson and Jersey City. We have immeidate openings for full time schedules, part time schedules and substitute shifts.

Job Description

Residential Specialists assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, sensory impairments as well as complex medical and behavioral support needs in a residential setting. Residential specialists empower the individuals we support to learn new skills, exercise choices, make connections in the community, and achieve their life goals.

This direct care position is hands-on and requires assistance with personal hygiene, medication administration, daily household chores and support in the community.

Job Duties Include:

    Supporting individuals in daily life activities including community outings/recreation events, light cooking, personal care, skill development, etc.
    Transporting the individuals to their activities, places of employment and appointments.
    Administering and supervising medication.
    Maintaining proper documentation.

Everas provides specialized, paid training for all employees to ensure that each team member has the tools needed to perform responsibilities. Employees must be able to complete training requirements within the specified time frames. Courses include CPR, First Aid, Sign Language, Behavior Management, Deaf-Blind Supports. All trainings are held at our main office in Somerset.

Entry level position. Insurance benefits and paid time off are available to full-time staff.

Pay rate is $12 per hour except for Saturday & Sunday 9am-11pm ($13.50/hour).

Full Time, Part Time and Substitute Shifts available, depending on location.

Full Time Shifts

    3pm-11pm Tuesday-Saturday
    3pm-11pm Sunday-Thursday

Full Time Overnight Shifts

    11pm-9am Sunday-Wednesday
    11pm-9am Thursday-Sunday

Part Time Weekend Shifts

    9am-3pm Saturday & Sunday
    3pm-11pm Friday & Saturday
    11am-7pm Saturday & Sunday

Part Time Overnight Shifts

    11pm-9am Thursday, Friday & Saturday

Part Time Early Morning Shifts

    7am-9am Monday-Friday
    6am-10am Monday-Friday

Part Time Shifts


If hired, in addition to working your shift, there are trainings you are required to successfully complete in order to remain employed. You will get paid your regular pay rate to participate in these trainings. ALL trainings are held at our main office in Somerset.

    High School Diploma/GED/Equivalent
